I established Self Directed Retirement Plans to provide investors a different approach for their retirement savings. Most financial institutions offer limited investment options, almost entirely related to “the market”. Years ago, I was a licensed financial advisor, was handcuffed like most advisors and could only offer investments sponsored by my broker. If someone asked me how to invest in Real Estate with a retirement account, I was not allowed to tell them – it would be called “Selling Away”. Ninety percent of millionaires did so by investing in Real Estate, yet the most financial firms do not allow direct R E investments.
When I saw the potential alternative investments had, it was a no brainer. Goodbye to all my licenses and hello to Freedom.
I have had a fortunate business career over the past almost 40 years. I have never worked in “corporate America” – have always started and owned my previous companies, each surpassing $1mm per year and one multi million. Don’t know where it came from, but the Entrepreneurial Spirit found me a long time ago. My Father worked for the same company for 42 years, so I know it didn’t come from him.
Self-directed 401 k’s make up less than 1% of the investment world which is sad. We specialize in Self Directed checkbook controlled 401 k plans. We have helped thousands and thousands of people all over the world to realize their investment objectives. We don’t offer investment advice; we teach our clients the self-directed world and let them do their thing.
I am also fortunate to travel and speak to many different investment groups. Except for sitting in a plane for 100,000 miles / year it is very gratifying teaching.
